06 Oct 2025: ✨ Patient Groups – Enrol Patient in Patient Journey & Stage
We’ve introduced powerful new automation linking Patient Groups with Patient Journeys, allowing Organisations to automatically enrol patients into the appropriate Journey and Stage based on their assigned Patient Group.
This creates a more structured and scalable onboarding and care progression workflow.
✨ What’s New
🧭 Assign a Journey & Stage at the Patient Group Level
Within Patient Groups, Organisations can now:
-
Set a Patient Journey
-
Select a corresponding Stage
-
Edit the assigned Journey/Stage
-
Clear the Journey/Stage (return to no journey)
⚙️ Default State: No Journey
By default, a Patient Group has:
-
❌ No Journey assigned
-
❌ No Stage assigned
This ensures flexibility — Organisations only configure automation where required.
🔄 Activation-Based Logic (Important)
Journey enrolment follows clear and intentional activation logic:
🕒 Patients Not Yet Invited
-
If a patient is assigned to a Patient Group
-
But is not Invited
→ They will NOT be enrolled into the associated Journey/Stage yet.
✅ When the Patient is Invited
-
Upon Invitation
→ The patient is automatically enrolled into the Journey and Stage associated with their Patient Group (if one is configured).
🔁 If aPatient Moves to a New Patient Group
-
If the new Patient Group has an associated Journey/Stage
→ The patient is automatically enrolled into that Journey/Stage.
💡 How It Helps
🏥 Structured Onboarding at Scale
For Organisations running:
-
Treatment programs
-
EAP services
-
Hospital pathways
-
Residential admissions
-
Community care streams
This ensures patients enter the correct structured workflow automatically — without manual Journey assignment.
🚀 Cleaner Operational Logic
The activation rule ensures:
-
Patients are not prematurely triggered into workflows
-
Journeys only begin when care formally begins
-
Administrative setup can occur ahead of activation
This supports intake workflows where patients may be created in the system prior to their official start date.
🔁 Smarter Group-Based Automation
By linking Patient Groups to Journeys:
-
Groups define structure
-
Journeys define progression
-
Activation defines timing
This reduces manual admin, supports consistency, and aligns with how Organisations structure care delivery.
A foundational enhancement that strengthens automation across Patient Groups and Patient Journeys — helping Organisations scale structured care with clarity and control. 💙
