Managing Provider Specialties

Provider Specialties are the areas of interest or expertise you can assign to your Team Members, shown on their provider profiles. Each Organisation manages its own specialty list, so you can tailor the options to your services, your terminology, and the needs of your patients.

📍 Where to Find Provider Specialties

Go to: Administration → Portal Settings → Provider Specialties

You'll see a table listing every specialty configured for your Organisation.

➕ Adding a Specialty

  1. Click + Add in the top-right of the table
  2. Enter the Specialty / Area of Interest name (free text)
  3. Save the new specialty

The new option becomes available immediately when assigning specialties to Team Members.

⚙️ Editing or Deleting a Specialty

Each specialty in the table has an actions menu () with two options:

  • Edit — rename the specialty
  • Delete — remove it from your Organisation's list

📋 The Default Specialty List

Every Organisation starts with a default set of specialties:

  • Addiction
  • Anxiety
  • Burnout
  • Career Related Issues
  • Child or Adolescent
  • Depression
  • Life Transitions
  • Mood
  • Parenting
  • Relationship Issues
  • Stress

These are a starting point only. You can edit or delete any of them to match the services your Organisation offers.

👩‍⚕️ Assigning Specialties to Team Members

The specialties field on a Team Member's profile draws from your Organisation's list:

  • You can select multiple specialties for each Team Member
  • Only the specialties configured for your Organisation appear as options

Once assigned, specialties display on the Team Member's provider profile.

🎯 Specialties in Patient Booking

Specialities also appear as a system field under Administration → Booking Profile Settings, where you control whether they act as a booking filter patients can use to narrow their provider search, and whether they're visible on the provider profile. See Configuring Provider Booking Profile Settings.

💡 Best Practices

  • Keep specialty names short and patient-friendly — they appear on provider profiles
  • Review the default list when setting up your portal and remove anything that doesn't apply to your services
  • Use consistent wording across your list (e.g. decide between "Issues" and "Concerns" and stick with it)
  • Before deleting a specialty, check whether any Team Members still have it assigned

Next step: ➡️ Assign specialties to your Team Members via their profiles so their areas of focus appear where patients see them.
